Present: Building Committee
members Fr. Bajorek, Tom Felton and Ken Margolis along with invited guests, Fr.
Yetman, Rosemary Endres, and Mike Keller.
10A. The meeting was held in Church with the objective to visually inspect the Blessed Sacrament Altar (BSA) and Tabernacle wooden mock up in the designated area behind the main Altar. The existing Ambo was temporarily removed and the wooden mock up put in place.
10B. All in attendance felt extremely confident in the appearance and functionality of the designated area for the existing BSA and Tabernacle.
10C. It was suggested that the only change was to raise the Tabernacle up 3 inches and ideas were discussed of using a marble or metal fill piece that would maintain the original design appearance.
10D. We then moved one of the flower pot wooden bases closest to the presiders chair to the right side (when facing the Altar) to get a visual of how the Ambo would look in this location, and again, all in attendance felt extremely confident in the appearance and functionality of the area for the Ambo.
10E. Tom will prepare a drawing of the Ambo location and platform and at a later date, we will construct a wooden mock up of the platform and go through the same exercise to obtain a visual of the new location and better understand the exact relocation area and to help with the design of the platform.
10F. Tom will update the drawing that illustrates the new location of the BSA and incorporate the Ambo and flower stands.
10G. A brief discussion ensued about the possibility to use the existing BSA area as the Baptistry. Further thought will be given.
10H. We discussed the piano area and possible ways to enhance this space.
10I. We looked at possible areas in the primary unit to relocate the existing kitchen to accommodate the elevator equipment. The existing CCD storage room and copy room are possible locations to merge with the existing kitchen counter area. Tom will study and prepare a drawing for further evaluation. CCD storage and copy room may be moved to the empty classroom. Further thought and discussions with users of these areas need to occur.
10J. Mark Hogan, an expert in elevators offered his consultation services to SJC free of charge. Tom will send Mark the drawings and meet with him to review location and discuss next steps towards finalizing our specifications and documentation.
