ST. NICHOLAS PROJECT

 

1. Description of Ministry
  Collection/distribution of 500+ Christmas gifts for needy members of parish and local community. Most of our work occurs between Thanksgiving and the second week in December. Core group members coordinate with charitable agencies to determine what items they need and the number of gifts. New volunteers are signed on at Stewardship Sunday each year. From this list we call volunteers to sort/deliver gifts to recipients on 2nd Sunday in December.
2. Frequency/Schedule of Meetings/Activities
  We don’t "meet" per se. We perform our service each year during the first two weeks of December. The timeline we follow usually includes:
- Sept./Oct: Core members meet
- September Sign up on Stewardship Sunday
- December Sort/deliver gifts
3. Where do I perform service?
 
St. John’s Church.
Deliveries to respective charitable agencies.
4. Who are served?
  Needy members of St. John’s, City Team Ministries, Catholic Social Services, Stinson Towers, Gift of Mary, individual families as we receive the names from St. Vincent de Paul Society or other charitable organizations.
