Ministry Information Sheet

Pre-Jordan

Baptism Preparation

1. Description of Ministry

Pre-Jordan class is required of all parents seeking to have their child(ren) baptized and who have not previously attended pre-baptism instructions. Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend.
Through the Pre-Jordan ministry, St. John Chrysostom faith community assists parents seeking to have their child(ren) baptized in understanding and celebrating the baptism of their child(ren).
The theology of the sacrament is explored through open discussion. Canon law, parish guidelines regarding the conferral of the sacrament and the roles of both parents and godparents in the faith journey of the child(ren) are examined.
