Welcome to Saint John Chrysostom Parish

Dear Friends,

It is a true grace to be appointed pastor at St. John Chrysostom Parish. But for me, as a friend of Father Bajorek since 1975, it is a bittersweet moment.

In our younger days, Father Bajorek and I played basketball, football, volleyball and softball together as seminarians. In our early- to mid-years of priesthood, Father Bajorek requested me to assist him at the seminary in becoming a spiritual director to students studying for the priesthood. During those years, we shared many moments of laughter, friendship, priesthood and joy. Therefore, learning of his illness was quite a bitter shock.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I received a call to meet with Cardinal Rigali. He informed me of Father Bajorek’s resignation as pastor and his appointment of me to be the new pastor. The circumstances were sweet in that immediately after my meeting with the Cardinal, I drove directly to the Villa to meet with Father Bajorek, who greeted me with a smile and said, “I am glad it was you.” Following that, he gave me his blessing to continue the mission of the faith community at St John Chrysostom Parish.

Peace and blessings,

Father Ed Hallinan
